Kir Royale and Red Velvet / The Cupcakery

You may have heard the buzz about Sprinkles, but now there’s fierce competition in the Dallas cupcake business. The Cupcakery in Uptown is now open and it’s going one step further by serving up the bubbly. Small bottles of champagne are available for purchase.

The Cupcakery offers more than one dozen flavors, from the basic “Tickle Me Pink,” a classic vanilla cake with pink vanilla buttercream frosting, to the original “Grasshopper,” a dark chocolate cake covered with mint chocolate buttercream. There’s also the taste bud shocker, “Kir Royale,” a raspberry cake drenched in a bubbly champagne frosting. It’s extremely strong and probably not the best choice unless you’re a huge fan of bubbly. If you prefer carrot cake, make sure to check out “Bugsy.” It’s topped with a huge heap of cream cheese frosting. The Cupcakery’s bestseller is a red velvet concoction called “Southern Belle.”

Some flavors are seasonal and may change depending on customer demand. Each cupcake is decorated to perfection. The price stays the same, no matter which one you get. It’s $3.00 per cupcake or $32.00 per dozen.

The Cupcakery is open until 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. It closes at 6 p.m. on Sundays. You can map directions, by clicking here. Don’t worry, if you can’t make it until late, the favorites never run out. Even if the shelves are empty, they keep fresh ones in the back.
