Had ya going there for a minute, right? I seriously doubt Rockstar will ever offer a sensitive take on anything but the company's latest downloadable episode for GTA IV, “The Ballad of Gay Tony” will likely offer a characteristically merciless treatment of gay culture that's as entertaining as it is brutal.
Coming this Fall on Xbox Live for $19.99 or 1600 MS points, this latest DLC continues the seedy saga of Liberty City's most down-and-dirty denizens. Players take on the role of small-time hood Luis Lopez, assistant to nightclub impresario Tony “Gay Tony” Prince. (I'm picturing Steve Rubell and Studio 54)
As usual, players will ping-pong among warring factions while doing their best to stay upright on the crime world's shaky ground of changing alliances and questionable loyalties. While said to be suitably gritty, the episode's glamorous atmosphere sets it in stark contrast to previous biker episode, “The Lost and the Damned”.
"Liberty City is the most vibrant game world we've created yet. The episodic structure has allowed us to interweave stories, gameplay and atmosphere in a whole new way," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "The team at Rockstar North have yet again surpassed themselves, and made something that is both epic and very innovative. This episode's focus on high-end night life contrasts with the biker gangs portrayed in The Lost and Damned, whilst giving us a lot of new gameplay possibilities."
To play GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony, players need to have both Grand Theft Auto IV for Xbox 360 and an Xbox LIVE membership.
