Dick Van Dyke and Tinker Bell

Saturday, October 11 marked the fifth annual Runway For Life® – an elegant dinner gala highlighted by a one-of-a-kind celebrity fashion show that celebrates the release of Disney’s “Tinker Bell” on DVD and Blu-Ray Hi-Def October 28 and raises funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Top models and celebrities walked the catwalk through a fairy wonderland at the unforgettable “Runway meets Broadway” style show. A marriage of fashion, music, dance and film, the extraordinary, action-filled evening celebrated the wonderful world of Disney and a magical land of fairies and pixie dust – featuring stunts, special effects and dance sequences themed to some of Disney’s most iconic films.

The show featured women’s wear by Robert Ellis, menswear by Brooks Brothers, make-up by CARGO Cosmetics and hair by Nexxus.

More than 1,000 guests attended to support the event. Runway For Life® raised well over $1 million for research and treatment of children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases.

The event was co-chaired by the Thomas family (Marlo, Terre and Tony Thomas) and close family friend Robert Ellis. The evening was presented by Disney’s “Tinker Bell” on DVD and Blu-Ray Hi-Def October 28 to ensure that 100 percent of the net proceeds will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Runway For Life® is one of St. Jude’s best-known and largest fundraising events in the nation, raising more than $6.5 million since its inception.

About Runway For Life ® and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Runway For Life® event co-founders, Terre Thomas, daughter of St. Jude founder Danny Thomas, and close family friend Robert Ellis inaugurated Runway For Life® in 2002. To date, the event has raised more than $6.5 million to honor Danny Thomas’ dream that “no child should die in the dawn of life.” St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases.

Founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, Tennessee, St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world. No family ever pays for treatments not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. St. Jude is financially supported by ALSAC, its fundraising organization.
