Viper, may you rest in peace. According to the Chrysler product plan, Dodge's serpent-themed halo car is being put to rest as of July 2010. And this is from the big dog himself, Dodge CEO Ralph Gilles.

Fret not, because the Viper won't just fizzle out. It's reported that Dodge's ten-cylinder terror is going to burn out in a blaze of glory, with the final 500 units being something extra special. As for what that means, we'll have to wait and see.

The product plan does show that a potential successor is in the works, and all kinds of rumors are flying around starting with letters like F and AR. There's nothing official yet, other than a dot on a slide labeled "Major Modification", but with Fiat trying to consolidate and streamline operations, you can bet that other subsidiaries will be involved. I, for one, can't wait to see what they've got planned.
