Aerostich sidebars
From the Aerostich sidebar, Camping Trips with a Motorcycle

If you're like me -- and fortunatley us all, not many are -- every opportunity to read about motorcycles is almost as good as an opportunity to ride.  And within that large and growing body of motorcycle lit, there's some very funny -- and twisted -- stuff.  If you like that sort of thing.

So here are some extremely twisted, humor-is-in-the-eye-of-the-beholder motorcycle links. (Please note ratings in parenthesis.  You have been warned!)

  • Aerostich Sidebar Readings. (Rated: Fun for the whole family)  OK, this is not really very twisted, but it's wildly creative, witty, and there's a lot of it.  Plenty of companies sell motorcycle gear but none bring the unabashed passion for riding that Aerostich does. Also check out their collection of tee-shirts for good reading, not to mention wearing.
  • Why I ride an VFR.  (Rated: Extremely bad language, Politically incorrect, BMW bashing)  I found this on the Destination Highways web site and while no author is credited, it could easily have been made by the authors of those guide books and riding maps.  Its video track is a famous rant from the movie Downfall (2005).  But in this version, der Furher (Bruno Gatz) is upset about the untimely loss of his VFR.  Not for the easily offended.
  • The obligatory crash video.  (Rated: Violence, Stupidity)  I like this one because it doesn't appear that anyone is significantly injured.
  • American Angst.  (Rated: Mean spirited, Condescending, Bad language, Severe Harley bashing)  Christopher Shields has made a life-long hobby of bashing -- some would say taunting -- riders of Harley-Davidsons.  Given my newly found enjoyment of Harleys I hesitate to post this link, but no matter what you think of the bike or its riders this is quite a collection.  Not to mention a monument to a man with a truly sadistic sense of humor.

Seldom has so much bad taste been referenced on a single screen.  Which books, writers, web sites, or forum posts about  motorcycles make you laugh?  You can't post links in the comments form but please contribute to the list.
