Today I'm reviewing a relatively brand-new comic, called Black Burns Brightly by creator Lizzi J. Scoones.  It's about a girl who has death threats against her and has an very unusual protector that turns out to be a demon.

The Pros: I like the art and the style of shading.  The artist uses a shading technique that almost looks like it could have been done by markers, but it's actually done using a pen tablet.  I was blown away by it.  The story isn't that far along, so it's difficult to judge at this point, but the potential is there.  Site layout is easy to navigate and unlike yesterday's review, the archives are functioning.

The Cons: Not sure I like the automatic music player that just plays music as you click the link.  I also don't see the point of a soundtrack for a webcomic at all, period.  It would have made better sense if the creator were making some animated film or a movie.  Plus, there are copyright issues with songs and using other people's work without their permission, so if one does use music to go with their work, they need to be licensed to do so.  If one can't afford the license, it's probably better to be safe than sorry and not use other people's work and just do your own.

As for the automated music player, they're like background midi players.  They're annoying and can interfere with other music that the web surfer may be listening to.  I don't recommend using them because they can be a turn off.  Fortunately, this player is only available on one page of the site and doesn't interfere with the comic itself.

Other than the useless "soundtrack", the comic looks like it has a good start.  Keep it up.
