Brush cleared around swimming pool.

Over the weekend, I visited a friend in the foot hills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and they were told to keep it clear and short around the house.

What was meant by this statement  Clear and Short is for wild-fire prevention. The people I visited were advised that they live in a high area where a fire could come right up to their house---bang, the house is gone.

Therefore, as you can see, in the picture, they stripped all scrub-trees from around the house and swimming pool. Then they cut the underbrush up to the tree-line.

After they did this, deer, birds, and other small animals, of the woods, could be seen eating, which was fun to watch, according to the owner, while they were swimming at the pool.

Another safety factor, is that they can now see who or what is near their house, when they look out the window: they have seen deer; skunks, rattle snakes; raccoons, and several mountain lions. According to the owner, he has watched several baby animals interacting with their mothers.

By the way, cutting the brush around your house, I was told, it could help decrease your mountain house insurance.
