According to CNET News, the Xbox 360 is about to become a lot more affordable. In the video game console wars, one of the biggest battles is the price of the system. For the last year and a half, the Nintendo Wii has been winning that battle at the attractive price of $249, plus you get a couple of games for it.
While the Playstation 3's 80GB is at $400, and the Xbox 360's cheapest model, the "Arcade", was at $279. But on Wednesday, Microsoft anounced that they're dropping the price of the "Arcade" to a cool $199 this coming Friday. In addition, Microsoft will also drop the price of its 60GB Xbox to $299 and its "Xbox Elite," which has a 120GB hard drive, to $399.
"The fact that the Xbox 360 is now cheaper than the Wii is definitely a big shift in the market," Aaron Greenberg, director of product management for Xbox 360, told CNET. "Over 75 percent of all console sales historically were sold below $200. We know that there's tens of millions of PS2 owners who bought their systems when (the PS2) hit $199."
If you don't have an Xbox 360 now, it's a good time to grab one. Yes, you are missing out.
