Reconnect with an old, beloved hobby and get out of your kids' hair.

We all know those parents. The ones whose whole world is completely wrapped up in their children. They cut their 18 year-old's meat for them and tell their their 9 year-old "You complete me." You may have not be that far gone, but if you know what's going on more with your 6 year-old's friends than your own then it's time to get a life.

Not only do kids chafe under constant parental presence, we are the standard bearers. If you want your child to grow into being a well-rounded individual with a variety of interests then you need to be the model. Remember the person you use to be before you had kids? What's an interest that you've abandoned since the stick turned colors?

Revisit an old hobby and dedicate more time to it. If your kids see you have other interests they will learn to find out what they love to do as well.
