The University of New Orleans is giving local filmmakers a chance to display their art at the 3rd Annual UNO Film Festival.

The UNO Film Festival is sponsored by the UNO Filmmakers--a club that meets every Thursday at UNO. The club gives the students an opportunity to network and get involved in film production and post-production.

The deadline for film submissions ended late April. The event will take place at UNO's Nims Theatre in the Performing Arts Center on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 6p.m. Admission to the event is free.

An award ceremony will take place Sunday, May 10, 2009 at the UNO Ampitheatre. Categories for awards include Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Animation, Original Screenplay, Original Score, Best of the Festival, and Audience Award among others.

The University of New Orleans is located at 2000 Lakeshore Dr. in New Orleans. For more information about the festival, contact festival director Dorothy Brignac by calling (985)991-6061 or by emailing unofilmmakers@uno.edu.
