So we've all heard of going green, but going trash? Well, that's exactly the idea in Burlington County. Beginning today, the gallery in Smithville Park will be featuring artwork made entirely of garbage. It may seem like a pretty radical idea, but it is by no means a new one. For years, artists and sculptors have used discarded household items in their work. You probably just never realized it..
The exhibit is part of a month-long event supporting all things green. There will be an Earth-Fair held this Sunday at Smithville Park in Eastampton. The pieces on display have been created byt the Dumpster Divers of Philadelphia. This is a group of forty-plus artists, who's bread and butter comes from the crusts we leave behind.
Most of the pieces will feature a "children's" theme. Toys and other children's items have been used to create the sculptures. Raw material includes barbie dolls and tennis rackets. Admission to the exhibit is free. Hours are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 11a.m. until 3p.m. The exhibit will also be open on Sunday, June 14TH from 10a.m. until 4p.m. in conjunction with the Earth-Fair.
