Just like cars, appliance manufacturers introduce their new models in the fall so this is a great time to buy one.
Money is tight right now - but the new energy saving models may help you save some money over time.
Here are some tips to consider when you buy:
1. Consider buying last year's model for a greater savings.
2. Consider scratch & dents. I bought a refrigerator with a dent and it was was so small, it was barely noticeable. I'm sure no one else ever noticed it.
3. Do you really need all of the bells and whistles? Buy only what you need. If you're buying a washer and dryer, maybe you want a better washing machine and a middle of the road dryer.
4. Stainless steel costs more and it shows finger prints. Buy white and save some cash and white never goes out of style. I have white appliances.
5. Make sure that the company where you buy your appliance will pick up and dispose of your old appliance, deliver your new one and set it up...at no cost. If they won't go somewhere else.
6. I know you've heard it before but don't buy extended warranties. They all come with a year's warranty.
