The Cincinnati Art Museum is showcasing 100 Chinese animal paintings and objects from all around the world.

The exhibit will show the evolution of Chinese animal imagery within one of the oldest institutions in the U.S.

The Cincinnati Art Museum has more than 60,000 pieces of art that spans 6,000 years and this particular exhibit took five years to prepare.

The exhibit showcases pieces from the Palace Museum in Beijing, the Shanghai Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, Princeton University Art Museum and the Nelso-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas.

In an interview with Taiwan News, Chicago Director, Perry Pei-hwang Shen said it was rare that the National Palace Museum would lend out part of their collection to another country. However the reason the museum agreed to lend out some of their works was to stress the importance in enhancing exchange with the U.S., particularly in the area of culture and arts.
