FOX: Fringe

The first season of Fringe started slow, but in spite of several long breaks during their season Fringe managed to end pretty strong in the ratings. The first season of this show was sprinkled with moments of brilliance, but also some episodes that left me feeling disappointed or ambivalent. Following up on a season finale that proposed as many questions as it answered, season 2 of Fringe could really take off, or it could fall flat on its face.

Focusing on “fringe” science, this show has managed to stay on the edge of the realm of possibilities, but promises to move deeper into the realm of impossibilities. According to Alex Strachan, alternative realities will play a major part in the events of the second season. Another major plot them will include more unraveling of the mysterious pattern. Several questions will be answered, but more will be raised.

J.J. Abrams promises greater explorations into the characters of Olivia and Peter as in integral part of season two. EW’s interview with the cast indicated that the relationships with the characters will also continue to be explored. The actors present the idea all around that they are all lonely in their own way, except in their relationships with each other. It is clear that character will be the focus of the second season with a prominent feature to include Peter’s discover of where he comes from.

The major guest star announcement for Fringe was the return of Leonard Nemoy as William Bell. The role is a recurring one, so look to find him appearing through out the season.

Fringe returns to Fox on Thursday, September 17 at 8 central. However an early review by Daemon’s TV states:

Overall, this Fringe premiere is more of a set up episode with lots of questions, little answers but a whole lot of action and suspense. Enough to keep you on the edge of your seat and enough to make you want to see more.”

Check out the clips below to catch a glimpse, and hear from J.J. Abrams and the actors.
