Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had a rather heated exchange with one reporter after she mistakenly thought she was being asked for her husband's opinion. In yesterday's news conferences in the Congo a reporter asked Secretary Clinton about President Obama's opinion on trade with China. Somehow in the translation the Secretary instead thought she was being asked for her husband's opinion. As you can see in the video below, Secretary Clinton did not respond kindly to being asked to give hubby Bill's foreign policy directives. The only thing more offensive to her might have been if the reporter asked her to make some cookies for her husband.
As it turns out afterwards the confusion behind whole matter was explained to the parties involved. Secretary Clinton and the reporter shook hands and even appeared to joke about the incident.
Still, it is clear Secretary Clinton may be a little edgy after her husband took credit for the most significant foreign policy achievement of the Obama presidency. In reality the State Department took care of negotiations and largely coordinated President Clinton's visit to North Korea. However, because the United States still officially maintains no diplomatic relations with North Korea the State Department had to operate in the background and portray President Clinton's visit as a purely private matter. So essentially, Bill Clinton got all the credit for a foreign policy victory that Hillary Clinton worked so hard to achieve. What is next for the poor Secretary we might ask? She may truly lose her mind if Monica Lewinsky personally gets Iran to give up on its nuclear program. Judging from her anger in this video I do not think any of us wish to see Secretary Clinton truly lose her temper.
