I have already given some input into my thoughts on the possible motives behind the breaking news that Sarah Palin was resigning as Governor of Alaska. This article will give some off-hand impressions of the resignation speech of given by Governor Palin yesterday. You can see the whole speech yourself by clicking the video below. I invite all those who watch to give their own impressions.
#1: Most importantly the speech just seems to lack any sort of theme or guiding message. The speech jumps from one direction to another every 15 seconds it seems.
#2: Governor Palin seems rushed especially at the beginning of the speech. It gives the impression that she is just trying to get through it and get out of there as soon as possible.
#3: The speech never clearly provides the one thing everyone in the audience wants to hear which is "Why the hell are you leaving office early?" If her reasoning is that she will be a lame duck the same can be said of the Lt. Governor who will take over for her. Under her theory every President and Governor should resign before their term is up rather than waste state resources. Not all Presidents and Governors accomplish nothing during their last months in office many are able to still make progress for their respective state if they do not quit. Let me say right now that if she is quitting to help take care of of her infant son I commend her but I did not hear that anywhere in the speech.
#4: This is the longest amount of time I have ever seen someone take to essentially say "I quit."
#5: We get that Governor Palin has children and loves them, but we can do without the background noise.
#6: She praises Seward's purchase of Alaska but I have to wander if she really would have supported the same purchase in the same circumstances. It seems more likely to me that she would see it as just another example of "pork barrel spending."
#7: I confess to having this flaw myself, but why does it seem like Governor Palin is looking down on you every time she makes an argument. There is a certain self-righteousness and haughty nature to the way she deals with things like the ethics complaints of her opposition. It needs to be fixed because it turns many against her I believe.
