As millions struggle with the highest unemployment rate (10.2%) in 26 years the Salahi couple may have found a way to avoid working all together. The couple is reportedly seeking a six-figure sum for any television interview they give out. So far the couple have not found any buyers as they canceled an interview they had scheduled with Larry King Live on Monday. While the Salahi couple may profit from their venture into the White House State Dinner party they certainly will not be winning any popularity awards with millions of Americans who are currently struggling to make an income.
The Micheale and Tareq story may be a minor blip on the radar if it did not reflect many other stories involving people seeking to profit from bad behavior. Bernie Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison earlier this year for his Ponzi scheme which stole millions from innocents investors. Then of course there was the "Balloon boy" incident in which two parents made law enforcement and the public fear for the life of their son all in pursuit of a reality show deal. Indeed Michaele and Tareq Salahi represent just another chapter in the story of those try to avoid the hard work of earning an honest dollar by making easy riches through whatever means possible.
