Rush Limbaugh's criticisms were too harsh for O' Reilly.  AP Photo Ron Edmonds

It takes a lot of courage for any conservative to take on Rush Limbaugh.  Limbaugh's numbers of loyal followers is unrivaled by anyone except possibly Bill O' Reilly who has consistently gained an audience of millions over the years.  So it is worth noting when the king of conservative television takes on the kind of conservative radio even if such criticisms are soft in nature.

In the segment below O' Reilly addresses Limbaugh recent interview with Fox News in which he accused President Obama of purposefully destroying the economy of America.  Limbaugh stated that no knowledgeable economists could possibly agree with teh recent moves of the Obama administration.

In his talking points O' Reilly begins by saying Limbaugh is being illogical since there is no way President Obama could get re-elected if he purposefully destroyed the economy.  Toward the end O' Reilly also expresses his personal opinion that he does not believe Obama is trying to cause economic damage.  Still O' Reilly attempts to secure his conservative credentials by spending the rest of his talking points attacking the Democratic health care plan.  O' Reilly also does not go as far as some liberals who accuse Limbaugh of prevaricating by accusing President Obama of purposefully destroying the economy.  Still O' Reilly shows once again that he is the new moderate among conservatives by disavowing himself from the beliefs of Limbaugh.  Bill O' Reilly being called the "moderate" is either a sign of O' Reilly moving toward the middle, conservatives like Limbaugh moving to the extreme, or possibly a combination of both.
