Jon Stewart gave his own take last night on the aburd scenes in the health care debate. Both sides went into a frenzy Saturday before the health care reform vote.
The first object of ridicule was the giant holocaust sign at one protest which compared health care reform to the final solution. As Stewart points out a comparison of a socialist-lite health care reform bill with the Nazi party of Germany is about as ludicrous as a comparison of Republicans with the People's Republic of China.
Stewart the moved on to discussing the various speeches given by members of Congress in favor and in opposition to the bill. The speeches included a speech featuring a lei which supposedly symbolized freedom, the use of an infant and tweens as props by two different representatives, and a constant reiteration of the talking points from both sides. In the end as Stewart notes the bill passed only to be declared "dead on arrival" by some prominent Senators.
