#PRStudChat, a monthly live chat that takes place on Twitter between public relations students, professionals and educators, presents PR students with a challenge: Join the conversation and bring your peers! Along with bragging rights, whichever school has the greatest number of participants in the October 21st chat wins an in-depth conversation with public relations industry veteran Deirdre Breakenridge via Skype. The winning school will also have the opportunity to earn some publicity for their PR programs, thanks to committed leading industry publications and bloggers who have committed to writing about the event. BurrellesLuce will be donating a $50 American Express Gift Certificate to the students and school to help celebrate their PR Student Chat win. Full details on the chat are available here
Beyond the prize, all participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the public relations industry and network with successful professionals such as special guest Christine Perkett, President of PerkettPR, and alumni of Ferris State University . The chat offers professionals an opportunity to share their experiences and advice with the next generation of PR professionals and take part in a new type of mentoring.
As the chat grows closer, a growing list of schools have signed up to participate in the challenge. If you do not see your school on the list, simply send a tweet to @valeriesimon, to be assigned an official hashtag.
"There is a lot of camaraderie within our PR and Communications programs at FSU, but we're excited to connect with professionals and students all over the country," says Lauren Novo, a senior at Florida State University. For students heading to the PRSSA National Conference in November, the chat also offers an opportunity to get better acquainted with attendees from other schools in advance.
