Lamborghini adds another roofless rocket to its portfolio with the new limited edition Murcielago LP 650-4 Roadster, featuring additional horsepower and a distinctive use of grey and orange paintwork.
As the name indicates, an uprated version of the 6.5-liter V-12 engine will produce 650 horsepower—this model will be the only one with that output for this engine—and have permanent all-wheel drive. Lamborghini pegs 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) at 3.4 seconds, thanks to the 6.5-liter’s 479 lb-ft (660 newton/meters) of torque, Top speed, say the Lambo folks, is “around” 205 mph (the approximation is refreshing).

Lamborghini calls the gray and orange livery Grigio Telesto, which translates…well, grigio is Italian for gray and Telesto is a moon of Saturn which in turn is named for a sea nymph, the daughter of Oceanus and Tethys in Greek mythology.
The orange is applied to the front spoiler. door sills and brake calipers, and the LP 650-4 logo, in a quasi-military stenciled font, on the car’s flanks is also in orange. The interior also gets the gray and orange treatment along with an asymmetric dash design. There is black Alcantera Nera on the driver’s side, including the door panel and central tunnel, and black leather Nero Perseus on the passenger’s side. Lamborghini also puts a transparent cover over the V-12 for obvious reasons: you don’t have to open the hood to show everyone the engine.
The production run of the LP 650-4 Roadster will be limited to fifty units, after which they break the mold or some such. Whatever, we recommend that if you’re so inclined, trot down to your neighborhood Lamborghini dealership and place your bid now before they’re all gone.
