     Be a pirate in your own home - hide your treasure - Argh!

Keeping cash on hand at home is a smart step in preparing for an emergency.  But where do you put the money?

10 places to stash your cash at home:

1. In a plastic pencil pouch stored in a notebook on a bookshelf
2. In random pages of a designated magazine in a basket
3. Inside a suitcase in the back of a closet
4. In an envelope in your tool box in the garage
5. Inside a pair of boots in the closet
6. Inside a box of feminine hygiene products
7. In a baggy taped under the bathroom sink - behind the pipes
8. In an envelope or baggy taped under the dog kennel
9. In an envelope under the silverware storage tray  
10. In a baggy taped in the bottom of the bathroom garbage can

I hide money all over the house.  If it's for a specific reason, I'll write the reason on the envelope.  Otherwise, I stash it and forget about it until there is an emergency.  My favorite places are #1 and #6 although #10 has a certain "Yuck" factor that I find intriguing.  What are your favorite places?

Homework:  If you don't have any cash stashed at home, start now!  Tuck a $20 into an envelope and hide it.  Add to that $20 until you have anough cash to last for about 3 days without access to an ATM.
