After a long and shaky road, the true Anaheim Ducks are back after last night's 7-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks.
All in all, the game last night was quite a circus, but every circus has the chance to start out on a shaky note. Last night, Anaheim let the game start to slip away, allowing two Vancouver goals within the first five minutes of the game. But the Ducks fought back cutting it down to a one-goal lead with a beautiful goal by Corey Perry. So the Ducks retreated to the locker room trailing by one and having the only two penalties of the game.
The second began to turn the game into a joke, with three Anaheim goals that first ties the game, then gives them the lead for the first time in the game. Less than two and a half minutes into the game, George Parros scored his first goal of the season. The second goal was a shorthanded goal by Mike Brown, and Corey Perry finished up the second period scoring by finding net behind Raycroft on Anaheim's first powerplay of the game. All in all, the second was absolutely owned by the Ducks.
The third continued with the pattern of three goals in the 20 minutes, all three for Anaheim, yet again. The first two goals were by youngster Bobby Ryan, with his beautiful shot that buries the puck top shelf behind Vancouver backup goalie Schneider. The last goal came off the stick of Joffrey Lupul who found an unusual bounce in the ice and ended up in an empty net with a confused Schneider behind the goal.
Some key standouts from last night's game include Perry and Ryan who each had three points (2+1=3) with four shots on goal each. Carter and Getzlaf ended the goal with two assists each, and Lupul ended with two points with one goal and one assist. Surprisingly, the two players with the most time on the ice were Wisniewski (26:38) and Whitney (26:12).
Hopefully, last night opened the floodgates for Anaheim to continue the ruthless massacre of any and every team they come in contact with. Tonight, the boys from SoCal face off with the Phoenix Coyotes, hopefully they'll pull out another big win.
