If you were coming up with a list of this summer's most unlikely movie stars, Ed Asner would have to be at the top of the list, wouldn't he? I mean, the guy's 79 years old, bald, round and about four decades past his career-defining role as Lou Grant on the ancient Mary Tyler Moore Show and its eponymous spin-off.

And yet here the old guy comes, voicing the grumpy old man at the center of 'Up,' Pixar's latest buzzed-about animated summer flick. Things around this one are pretty hush-hush - all we really know is that it appears to be about an old man and a young kid traveling around the world in a floating house. Seriously. Given the Pixar track record, though, I'm inclined to give these guys the benefit of the doubt - any studio that can turn a story about a bunch of fish into one of the decade's best movies has earned a little leeway in my book.

Besides, the more 'Up' clips that get released as its May 30 release date nears, the more excited I'm getting about seeing it. Here's the latest, wherein Asner's old man and his little sidekick run into a dog with a collar that turns its thoughts into words. It's a great idea for a character, and reminds me of the old Simpsons episode where Homer's brother invented the baby translator. Could be good stuff, and definitely puts a circle around 'Up' on my summer movie calendar.

Give it a look - oh, and it appears that they find this dog on the cusp of the Grand Canyon or something. Honestly can't wait to see where this weird movie takes us:
