What's more mysterious - the appearance of Sylvia or Dithers' quoting a Jimmy Buffett song?

Some of the oldest comics get so set in their ways that they are loath to introduce new characters into the mix. When's the last time Blondie and Dagwood Bumstead welcomed anyone into their little world (for my money, it's the random people in Dagwood's carpool, who have been around for at least a decade, I think).

So I raised my eyebrows just an inch or so upon discovering that Dagwood boss and fun-in-life-squelcher J.C. Dithers actually has an employee (other than Our Man Bumstead) whose name he knows.

Who, dare I ask, is "Sylvia"? She appears to be Dithers's secretary or aide-de-camp. He expects her to know where Bumstead is at all times. Can we expect to see her again, or is this a one-time fluke? And, furthermore, should we be shocked that Mr. Dithers recognizes the Jimmy Buffett song playing from Dagwood's cell phone? Should we be surprised that Dagwood is a fan of the aforementioned Mr. Buffett?

I'm hoping for more appearances, cause I gotta tellya, how many more times can we take of neighbor boy Elmo waking Dagwood up from a nap?
