After much hand-wringing, NBC's will launch "Heroes" tonight, and we'll have to see if the show can regain the momentum it had in its first season.
You see, last year, "Heroes" just went all wobbly, dispersing its characters across the world - and time - with the plot too diffuse to carry viewers forward week after week. Luckily, some might say, the writers' strike intervened, and "Heroes" essentially gets a do-over for Season 3 (here's a nice way to get caught up). The writers can neatly tie up Season 2, and just move on.
I like the show, and would be happy if it stayed on the air. Ostensibly about a group of average-Joe folks who discover they have pretty cool super powers, "Heroes" can also function as an allegory for all types of things ranging from personal growth to world affairs. Here's hoping NBC and producer Tim Kring get things in hand and have a successful launch. .
