Now we can see the economic toll of buying up all these big comic-book events published by DC and Marvel, courtesy of Newsarama.

Sounds shocking, but keeping up with every last development in Marvel's "Secret Invasion" or DC's "Final Crisis" would cost the average comic-book fan a whopping $378.78 or $135.08, respectively.

It's no secret that feeding a comic-book jones isn't cheap, but here's the real proof. As the big comic-book publishers try to goose interest in their super-hero stories with limited series and massive, title-spanning events, this stuff gets to be quite costly. Fans have to make choices in these tough economic times about which titles they have the funds to support.

For my part, I can tell you that in the last several months, I stopped buying "Teen Titans," which really began to bite, and "Avengers: The Initiative," because if I'm drowning Marvel in cash from my purchases of both "Mighty Avengers" and "New Avengers," well, it's got to stop somewhere. What comics are you dropping? For economic reasons? Quality reasons? Leave a comment and let me know.
