With most of Boston emptying onto the Esplanade, a lot of restaurants aren't really doing much in the way of the Fourth. Many spots will be closed. But as for you, if you're headed to the Boston Pops fest, you may want to skip the fastfood carts and bring your own picnic, from a restaurant or gourmet market along Newbury Street.
A few restaurants within walking distance of the Esplanade are hosting special meals. Casa Romero on Newbury Street has an Early Bird 3 Course Prix-Fixe Menu for $21.95 from 4:00pm to 9:00pm.
The Mandarin Oriental Boston fine restaurant Asana’s 4th of July indulgent 3-course lunch menu includes Asian barbeque baby back ribs and ice-cream. At night, Executive Chef Nicolas Boutin's Buffet stations include: smoothies, infusions and fresh juices, pulled chicken and chili garlic shrimp, raw bar, Asian dishes, and fondue.
Or you may want to just hole up in a nice spot, to watch the fireworks far from the crowds. You can see the fireworks from the Cambridge patios at Bambara and Dante. The Sensing Terrace on the waterfront features $20 pitchers of Sangria and $1 jumbo shrimp tempua, along wiht a $40 Three Course Prix-Fixe.
Dine BELOW the fireworks on the water -- The Spirit of Boston will cruise Boston Harbor, and you can be treated to dancing wait staff, and choice of a Lobster Lunch Cruise, or Independence Day Dinner Cruise featuring dining, dancing, and dazzling city views.
Or dine at eye's view, at the Top of the Hub, which is throwing a party with cocktails, five-course dinner, simulcast and views of the fireworks. See story.
