Rod Stewart live in Las Vegas!

Rod Stewart performed a dazzling 90 minute free concert for 12,000+ attendees at the recent Las Vegas World Market's 2008 Summer Furniture Market.  The concert was sponsored by Serta Mattress and was free to all attendees.

Furniture Market is where retail furniture and home decor store owners as well as decorators and designers from around the globe go and view all of the latest trends and home items that you Will eventually see in stores in your town. Las Vegas is a new market, 3 years new, and a rival to the established High Point Furniture Market.  Having attended both, and High Point for years, I can tell you I love the Vegas Market.  Let's face it,  there is so much more to do and see in Vegas.  This year, they opened their 3rd building of showrooms and to celebrate, they gave this free concert to attendees.

Back to Rod Stewart!  It was a balmy 110 degrees with a warm, okay, hot wind blowing.  I limped over to the building at 5pm (I broke my foot traveling to Vegas) and stood in line for 40 minutes before the crowd got rowdy and actually was chanting, "open the doors".  When the doors finally opened, everyone was running!  Luckily, the nice couple I met standing in line assured me they would save me a seat.  It was a great seat on the 5th row!

There were 12,000+ people packed into the longest tent I have ever seen! Every seat was filled and people were standing in the aisles.  Rod may have started the show in gold lame' shoes and a silver jacket but after two outfit changes he ended up in black jeans and a white shirt and rocking the house! The concert was incredible!  Rod the Bod (yes, still in great shape and showing the moves!) performed all his classic hits like Maggie and Hot Legs.  The age of the crowd ranged from teenagers to people who remember when the songs were hits.  Everyone danced to the music, even if they didn't know the words.  There were enough people in the crowd that knew the words and we sang all the songs.

I was really impressed with his performance and with the Market for giving attendees this great event.  Furniture Market is always wonderful, I love seeing the latest trends, colors, furniture and accessories. It can be grueling to walk for a week and still not see all of the showrooms and it was especially brutal with a broken foot but alas, even having walked on a broken foot all day did not stop me from catching this awesome performance.
