Who knew that reading an ebook on your cell phone could be so...entertaining?
Entertaining is certainly the word for Ravenous Romance, a brand spanking (no pun there) new ebook service that delivers 500 word snippets of erotica to the cell phones of female subscribers.
And you'll never guess which highly acclaimed American author has given his blessing to the project. It's none other than...wait for it...double Pulitzer Prize winner John Updike, author of the Rabbit series about Harry 'Rabbit' Angstrom (Rabbit, Run; Rabbit Redux; Rabbit is Rich; Rabbit at Rest; and Rabbit Remembered) as well as the The Witches of Eastwick.
Mr. Updike called Ravenous Romance's first erotic ebook delivery last week:
good , brave, and joyful writing.
According to a publishing source close to Mr. Updike and Ravenous Romance's debut erotic author, former Penthouse writer Catherine Hiller, Mr. Updike is behind the project 100% because:
He thinks the world needs some good sex now, and, for better or worse, a lot of people are finding it through the internet.
By the end of the year, Ravenous Romance will be sending out steamy snippets from over 150 authors; in addition, the publisher, Holly Schmidt, hopes to entice some big time writers like Mr. Updike and Stephen King to contribute.
With daily excerpts at only 99 cents each, women everywhere will be able to indulge to their heart's delight; because, as Mr. Updike pithily stated,
Sex is like money: only too much is enough.
