Where is today’s United States media? What is the purpose of not only hoping the President succeeds but actively supporting his polices without allowing any alternative argument into the news. What I am talking about is the recent report ABC news is going to turn its programming over to the White House to push government run health care. On June 24 ABC news will deliver World News from the Blue Room of the white house. The network also will air a primetime special called “Prescription for America” originating from the East Room, exclude opposing views on the debate.

It is no small coincidence that the Director of Communications at the White is Linda a Douglass, who was a reporter for ABC news from 1998-2006. It would be one thing to say that Obama is forcing a network to do his will. I could go and on about a diabiclal plan for Obama to take over the media, fortunately that is not the case.
What maybe a worse problem is a mainstream media willingly covering up stories, politically pumping up the President and attacking his enemies. For example here is the Republican response to ABC’s special government run healthcare:
Dear Mr. Westin:

As the national debate on health care reform intensifies, I am deeply concerned and disappointed with ABC's astonishing decision to exclude opposing voices on this critical issue on June 24, 2009. Next Wednesday, ABC News will air a primetime health care reform “town hall” at the White House with President Barack Obama. In addition, according to an ABC News report, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, WORLD NEWS, NIGHTLINE and ABC’s web news “will all feature special programming on the president’s health care agenda.” This does not include the promotion, over the next 9 days, the president’s health care agenda will receive on ABC News programming.

Today, the Republican National Committee requested an opportunity to add our Party's views to those of the President's to ensure that all sides of the health care reform debate are presented. Our request was rejected. I believe that the President should have the ability to speak directly to the America people. However, I find it outrageous that ABC would prohibit our Party's opposing thoughts and ideas from this national debate, which affects millions of ABC viewers.

In the absence of opposition, I am concerned this event will become a glorified infomercial to promote the Democrat agenda. If that is the case, this primetime infomercial should be paid for out of the DNC coffers. President Obama does not hold a monopoly on health care reform ideas or on free airtime. The President has stated time and time again that he wants a bipartisan debate. Therefore, the Republican Party should be included in this primetime event, or the DNC should pay for your airtime.

Respectfully,
Ken McKay
Republican National Committee
Chief of Staff

ABC news responded with this:
"ABCNEWS prides itself on covering all sides of important issues and asking direct questions of all newsmakers -- of all political persuasions -- even when others have taken a more partisan approach and even in the face of criticism from extremes on both ends of the political spectrum. ABCNEWS is looking for the most thoughtful and diverse voices on this issue.ABCNEWS alone will select those who will be in the audience asking questions of the president. Like any programs we broadcast, ABC News will have complete editorial control. To suggest otherwise is quite unfair to both our journalists and our audience."

So instead of inviting a debate ABC news with the backdrop of the Whitehouse will promote itself and censure the other side of the argument. ABC has gone down the path of MSNBC news as minor cheerleader for the Obama administration or worse it appears an active pawn of The DNC (Democratic National Committee). Check out the headlines of the DNC national web page the very first headline is “Fight for real Health Care Reform.” It would seem this whole thing is being coordinated by the white house and the DNC whose marching orders are being carried out by biased media. It is not only the national television media but also the Print media led by the New York Times.

It appears that the New York Times knowingly held back a story that would hurt then candidate Obama. The New York Times had a story by Stephanie Storm about possibly illegal coordination between the Obama campaign and ACORN last year was not released until after the election. Clark Hoyt of the Times wrote:

The story involved allegations that Barack Obama's campaign, in league with Acorn, a left-leaning community activist group, was guilty of technical violations of campaign finance law. Evidence supplied by the source could not be verified. Even if the story had panned out, it is hard to see how any editor could have regarded it as momentous enough to change an election in which the Republicans were saddled with an unpopular war and an economic meltdown.

Matthew Vadum of American Spectator wrote on 5/18/09:“On the surface if one doesn't think through Hoyt's explanation carefully, it may seem quite reasonable. But spend a few minutes thinking about it and holes begin to appear in the house ombudsman's reasoning. A quick digression: Of course, we can only wonder what the New York Times would have done if it had gained information that John McCain's campaign had committed technical violations of campaign finance law. The NYT did publish a blog item about the DNC's allegation that McCain's campaign had illegally procured a loan and the paper was only too willing to imply in a Feb. 21, 2008 story that McCain was having a romantic affair with a female lobbyist three decades his junior. The charge, which was based on information provided by anonymous sources supposedly working for McCain, ultimately proved groundless and the newspaper retracted it a year later. The NYT disingenuously claims that it had never intended to suggest that the lobbyist "had engaged in a romantic affair with Senator McCain."

NY Times that is a double standard to say the least. The widespread news double standard shows the mass media has changed from reporting news to creating or destroying it. With news media in the Presidents back pocket he is free to do whatever he wants with little resistance. This will create a further divide in the Nation as most on the right know the mass media is biased and have turned away. It would also explain the growth of alternative news and the death of traditional print media. You will see more states begin to push more sovereignty issues as the federal government grows and infringes on rights.

The recent Tea Party protests are a good example. People in this group are concerned about big government and were blown off by the mass media. CNN sent a reporter to argue Obama’s plan rather than let the people talk. Millions saw that now CNN is struggling with the ratings as other mass media outlets that promote left leaning lies.

What to do. Vote them out, anyone who voted for spending (including republicans). We don’t need big government to run our lives. We don’t need GM now Government Motors to tell which car we should buy. We don’t need Government to tell us what Doctors, what care you need and who will get it.

We need a media that reports not hides or makes up news. A media that is not afraid to find out what our elected officials are doing not blindly promote their programs. A free press will remain free if it tells the truth, keeps politicians honest and is fair. A media that reports the Government talking points because it likes a certain politician or party is not a media. It is a government run news agency. Hugo Chavez must be so proud.
