Recently Eric Holder was appointed to the position of Attorney General. Eric is the first African American Attorney General for United States. His credentials are outstanding, after graduating from Columbia University Holder joined the U.S. Justice Department’s new Public Integrity Section during which he assisted in the prosecution of corrupt public officials including Democrat John Jenrette for bribery. In 1988 Ronald Reagan appointed Holder to serve on the bench of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Holder stepped down from the bench 1993 after he accepted an appointment for U. S. Attorney for the District of Columbia from Bill Clinton. He was later promoted to Deputy Attorney General in 1997 serving under Janet Reno.   From 2001 until he became Attorney General he worked as an attorney fot Covington & Burling in Washington, D. C. Not too shabby I must say. It is not his qualifications that bother me. It is his character, integrity and honesty that I have issues with and so should every Republican.

I know, Bill why are you smacking on this Historic nomination? It is time Republicans and for that matter everyone should do the right thing because it is right. I am going to burst some bubbles here but Mr. Holder is not honest, has no integrity and poor character. Recently Eric Holder  said at a press conference that re-instituting a U.S. ban on the sale of assault weapons would help reduce the bloodshed in Mexico, where last year 6,000 people were killed in drug violence. Not only is this a lie is a purposeful misleading statement to accomplish a selfish believe in gun control. Let me explain.

Not all of the 6000 people were killed with assault weapons. In fact most were not killed with assault weapons but were knifed, gun downed with pistols stabbed, hung and even beheaded. The violence is prolific. Of those that were killed with “assault weapons” almost all of them were with military quality full auto assault weapons that isn’t even for sale in most gun stores. They were illegal guns (here also) smuggled in across the unsecured border illegally. Do you really think the assault ban is going to slow down the drug murders in Mexico? The drug cartels are buying fully auto assault weapons, grenades, rocket propelled grenade launchers. Do you really think they would want a semi auto AR-15 which isn’t as good as what the cartels have or what they are buying? Mr. Holder is purposely misleading everyone to see what response he would get by the media and the American Public. He is fishing probably for the administration to see if they can take away your guns.
Mr. Holder has a history of distorting things such as the Constitution. In 2008 Holder joined the Reno-led amicus brief, which urged the Supreme Court to uphold Washington, D. C.’s handgun ban and said the position of the Department of Justice, from Franklin Roosevelt through Bill Clinton, was that the Second Amendment does not protect an individual right to keep and bear arms for purposes unrelated to States’ operation of a well –regulated militia. Holder said that overturning the 1976 law “opens the door” to more people having more access to guns and putting guns on the streets. Other words to Holder if you are not in the National Guard or Military you should not have handguns.  If he feels this way and has actively worked to take away guns how do you think he will do to as Attorney General protecting your 2nd Amendment rights when he doesn’t even understand the Amendment.  Republicans knew this, yet only 21 of them voted against his nomination.
When Mr. Holder was the Deputy Attorney General he was instrumental in the controversial Pardon to Marc Rich, a commodities trader who fled the country in 1983 rather than face trial on charges of tax evasion, racketeering and trading with the enemy.   In a New York Times article dated March 13, 2002 Mr. Holder was a “willing participant in the plan to keep the Justice Department from knowing about and opposing” a pardon for Marc Rich. I guess that means Mr. Holder will hide evidence or documents for his boss or his own personal reasons, so much for Mr. Holder’s Character. Republicans knew this yet only 21 voted against his nomination.
Mr. Holder filled out a 47 page response to Senate Judicial Committee and omitted a minor item. Holder omitted that he was Illinois Gov. Blagojevich’s “special investigator to the Illinois Gaming Board.” Opps anyone can omit details, especially since he signed the questionnaire five days after Blagojevich was arrested. In a Chicago Sun Times Article dated December 17, 2008 the gaming board staff became suspicious of the appointment “The concern was Holder had a bias to do whatever Blagojevich wanted, which was to give the casino to Rosemont’” said Jim Wagner, who was a top Chicago FBI agent before he joined the Gaming Board. Sound familiar? That is what he did for Bill Clinton in the Marc Rich pardon. It is also what he attempted to do the Judiciary Committee. Yet here we go again only 21 Republicans voted against him.
We can argue over some his policy beliefs, but I don’t think that matters as much as his Character. Mr. Holder is deceptive, dishonest and lacks the integrity needed for an Attorney General. Yet, Republicans where was your courage to oppose this man and make your reasons known. By allowing Mr. Holder through the process with minimal resistance you are behaving just as bad as the Democrats who put him there. Stand up and do the right thing.
