Next time you think about shopping at Walmart you might want to be more conscious of your appearance and manner. A new website called People of Walmart features photos of shoppers and not of the flattering sort. Worse yet, a not so kind caption is included.

Yesterday, the People of Walmart website was written about on Web Buzz at length to include everything from viewer warnings to some questionably humorous suggestions for avoiding the camera. (Read: People of Walmart: Victims of funny shopper photos -- Who's next?)

Today, the new website has made the number one search spot in Google, but with the term "people of wal mart" so interest in poking fun at other people has not waned. This may be due to the fact that a site that promotes said website is called "People of Wal mart." The latter makes some interesting observations about Walmart people, however, such as:

TIME "asks why the People of Wal Mart often don’t dress or act appropriately, why their clothing choices range from lazy to eccentric, bronco busting to burlesque. Why have they stopped caring about putting their best face forward?"

The People of Walmart website (not Wal-mart or Wal mart) is not designed to answer that question. In fact the photos of shoppers might prompt users to question people's choices even more.

On a technical note, the website might be difficult to access as its sudden popularity has exceeded computer server demands.

The young entrepreneurs who began the new photo blog have twittered about the issues and plan to resolve this issue as soon as possible. It appears that the photo diary started as a hobby and has turned into an overnight success…whether or not it is a lasting one, viewers will decide.

Photos are submitted by users as are captions for winning selections.

Given the potential fashion humor alone found on any given day when people watching at Walmart (present writer included), the idea has merit. Besides, in a bad economy, cheap laughs are always in demand.

Target, anyone?
