Donate unwanted medals but it's okay to keep a few that are special.

Moving can be a drag (especially if you don’t’ have air conditioning!), but if you eliminate unwanted items it can be liberating.  It's kind of like a solid running plan that substitutes junk miles with quality miles---it can have some good results.

If you are moving (or not) and you have unwanted medals filling up drawers and you want to get rid of them but have a hard time parting ways, Medals 4 Mettle is  an organization that collects and distributes them “to recipients can be any age and might have exhibited such mettle by dealing with disease, handicaps or any similar challenge.”

PHOTO:  Since I’m moving, I am keeping a few medals that have special meaning like the 1996 Parkersburg Half Marathon 5th place age group (one of my best times and earned me a spot on stage at awards ceremony), Chicago's only Surf & Turf (back in 1999 we kayaked in the lagoon and then ran), Tri Shark (it’s original and cool!) 1997 Gargoyle Gallup (very cool!) 1988 Chicago Sun Times Triathlon 5th age group (one of my best races), 1998 Y Me 5K (almost cracked 19 minutes).
