You're invited by Chicago 2016 to join in the city's celebration of Olympic Day on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 with two free events: a three-mile Fun Run and a lakefront sports extravaganza, featuring a concert with Elevation (U2 cover band) and the Freddy Jones Band.
FUN RUN (you need to sign up in order to attend!)
After work, join in a three-mile run along the lakefront path. Two runs will occur simultaneously - the Near North Fun Run, which starts at Irving Park and the Downtown Fun Run, which starts at Balbo across from Grant Park. Both will begin at 6 pm and finish at North Avenue Beach. Registration is free.
Sports Extravaganza
From 6-10 pm at North Avenue Beach you will get to witness exciting competitions and demonstrations of Olympic and Paralympic sport, such as archery, kayaking, wheelchair basketball, volleyball and soccer.
