Super Allergy Girl
Pretty book, great content!

Lisa A. Lundy is the author of a new cook book for those interested in the GFCF diet useful for autism. The book is for anyone who has experienced food allergy symptoms, not only autism. If your child (or you, for that matter) has symptoms of food sensitivities, this might just be what you need.

I use the term 'cookbook' loosely here. The Super Allergy Girl-Allergy and Celiac Cookbook- is not only an index of great recipes, it is truly a course on cooking for food sensitivities. The book contains over one hundred pages of information pertinent to this type of diet.

From the moment I opened the package, I was impressed. Most books with research cited and oodles of information are boring. Too technical to appeal to the typical reader. I am pretty average:

Mother of 4, one high functioning autistic child, 4 cats, 1 dog, and a bird/escape artist. You can bet mothers and fathers who have as much as I do going on need something that catches their attention, delivers information we need, and does it well. If it can teach us how to do something fast, all the better!

The Allergy and Celiac Cookbook does this. Even the beginner cook who swears they cannot boil water without burning it can create tasty dishes by following the directions. Lisa Lundy writes to you as a mother, not a gourmet chef with a TV crew.

All recipes are:

  • Gluten Free
  • Wheat Free
  • Milk Free
  • Casein Free
  • Lactose Free
  • Egg Free
  • Peanut Free
  • Tree nut Free
  • Coconut Free

Even with the ommission of those ingredients, each recipe is easy to make and most ingredients can be found in local groceries. Mrs. Lundy lives in a suburb of Buffalo, NY and has access to the typical health food store and grocery market as any parent in NY. The recipes are all built with this in mind.

Want to test out a recipe before you buy the book? Lisa has graciously posted pdf files of some great ones right on her site. Here is a direct link to some very tasty Chocolate Chip Muffins. My children all loved them, which is very important when not all of your kids are food sensitive.
