Burger King Joins Trans Fat Free Revolution

Right on schedule, Burger King is going trans fat free.

According to a report today in the Chicago Sun-Times, BK said all of its menu ingredients, including its baked goods, will contain zero grams of trans fat by November 1.

The company’s stores have been switching to trans fat free oils and fats since New York City passed a trans fat ban in 2006. The ban took effect in July as more communities began to also enact trans fat bans of their own.

Wendy's, KFC, Taco Bell were some of the first to go trans fat free (some foods, like KFC’s chicken pot pie, may still contain trans fats so check the nutrition information online if you are concerned. McDonald’s switched to trans fat free fryer oil but not baked goods. McDonald’s plans to switch it’s baked goods to trans fat free by the end of the year, according to the Sun-Times.
