Anyone who has gone by the newly opened Sonic in Santee knows that it is a madhouse. Unfortunately, the place is so popular that many people have only driven by, unwilling to wait in lines for a cheeseburger and a shake.

But the lines have started to go down...not much, but some. For people who refuse to wait half an hour simply to order "fast" food, your time is comming.

They say good things come to those who wait and that is most certainly the sake with Sonic. Unlike Dairy Queen or Foster's Freeze, they not only have stellar drinks and desserts, but the food is fantastic as well.

The popcorn chicken is spiced perfectly and is nice and moist with an ideal breading to meat ratio. The toast burger is delightful with a strangely delightful sweetness added by the included onion ring. The tater tots are nothing like the soggy blobs of potatoes you had in elementary school. Essentially, every thing is delicious and fresh.

The drinks are sure to please as well. The limeaides have a blast of soda water to give them a delightful froth. The slushees have a light flavor that's not too syrupy like many other drinks made the same way. The shakes are thick and full of real fuit.

The ice cream in the deserts is great and so far, everything I've touched on the menu has been pure bliss. As for the price, a mere $20 covered two combo meals with fun slush drinks, two desserts, and a cheeseburger.

When you get a chance and the line's not too long, take your chance on Sonic. You won't regret it.
