Whether you live in San Diego or are just visiting, there's a good chance you will visit Disneyland, Midevil Times or Knotts Berry Farm at some point. These are great tourist stops that are only an hour or so away from San Diego. When you're up there though, you'll surely want to eat something cheap (let's face it, these activities are expensive), but it also better be delicious.
Enter Po' Folks. This is a great southern-style chain restaurant that has unfortunately slimmed down to only a few surviving stores. While there used to be a few of them in San Diego, they are now gone. Fortunately, it's an exciting dining detour whenever you find yourself in Orange County.
Off with the rambling, if you're wondering why you should go here, visit their webpage. Marvel at the selection of traditional southern foods, ranging from chicken fried steak to fried catfish to BBQ ribs. Gaze in wonderment at the delightful choice of side dishes including fried okra, hushpuppies, black beans, collard greens, coleslaw, biscuits, macaroni and cheese and more. Practically everything on the menu is cheap, a meal consists of two sides, a good food portion and a bread item and they go for around $10. Even better, it is all fantastic.
Next time you find yourself up here, take a detour to 7701 Beach Blvd., Buena Park, CA. You will be glad you did.
