Actress Glenn Close is not stranger to mental illness. She has portrayed a variety of characters suffering from many forms of mental illness. And in her personal life she deals with mental illness everyday. Her sister Jesse has bipolar disease and Jesse's son has schizophrenic disorder.

"It is an odd paradox that a society, which can now speak openly and unabashedly about topics that were once unspeakable, still remains largely silent when it comes to mental illness. This month, for example, NFL players are rumbling onto the field in pink cleats and sweatbands to raise awareness about breast cancer," write Close in an article on the HuffingtonPost.com.

Over the past year, Close has worked with a group of mental health advocates to start an organization, BringChange2Mind.org, devoted to raising awareness and fighting the stigma of mental illness.
