Record highs were broken again today with 100 degrees in Ft. Lauderdale, 98 in Miami, and 96 in West Palm. Other airport temperatures across the area were right up there with 98 in West Kendall and Opa-lock and 99 degrees in Pembroke Pines and Pompano Beach.
The 100 degree reading in Ft. Lauderdale ties the hottest temperature ever recorded at that location set back on August 4, 1944. Miami and West Palm were just shy of that feat needing 100 and 101 degrees to do all-time record honors. Heat like we have seen today and the past couple of days is very rare across South Florida and may not be seen for some time to come. Expect some storms tonight, some possibly severe with higher storm chances expected through the week. The forecasted high of 89 degrees for Friday almost seems cool at this point.
