Well well well, Music Monday....
Traditionally we keep it strictly steppin' on Monday's; sprinkling the readers with music that motivates movement, but today we're giving a little more...a message to accompany the music.
This past Saturday I had opportunity to attend an "album" release party at City & East in Coventry for a very talented, very grounded, very humble poet, Justin Fraley. How do you describe a tone that is in its essence hollow but when it meets air, when it meets a melody, becomes full, rich even? As if the surrounding presence fills the spaces, creating a whole that embodies color, light, texture, feeling, breath...whew. That's Justin.
The vibe at City & East, with its cool tones and cozy atmosphere, set the mood for what was to come. The space and its laid back layout well suited the personas of the artists and production team. Lovely is it when an artist presents you with work that pleases your senses, touching you emotionally, mentally & spiritually. "Melodic Movement" a product of The DrawingBoard, EXP LLC., is a harmonious blend of satisfying sounds...enticing tracks, liquid vocals, hearfelt messages. This is a CD (there I said it) that you can press "play" and let ride. Just sit back and enjoy the journey. For all my dancers, there are at least 5 tracks that you can get up and get groovin' to for sure ("Courting", "Friday Moscato", "The Final Say", "Her Remix", "Heartbreak") Also on the "album", The DrawingBoard EXP's Rayshawn Evans and Unique Angel treat you with a sampling of their vocal delights. Rayshawn & Unique both have "albums" dropping in November and February respectively so stay tuned for more on these talents. Guest appearances by Tenor Saxophonist Cool Matt and Hip Hop artist Tucept round out the project giving up something for everyone.

But don't take my word for it...if you enjoy poetry, if you enjoy good music, if you can appreciate a thoughtful message then do yourselves a favor. Get that "Melodic Movement" in your library. Support these young minds making it happen and doing it well.
Psst...God given talent comes full circle when your gift inspires someone else's. As I sat at the release party, rockin', groovin'...it inspired one my gifts. The sound, the feel, the vibe gave a rhythm to my thoughts and the motivation for this piece. I wrote this article, right there at the Hookah bar! The next time y'all are out "Riding" with me expect to hear a track (or three) off Melodic Movement - yes, they inspired that gift too!
Allow yourselves to be inspired...
