Tonight a mere $5.00, and a can of non perishable food, will get you into the Hard Rock Cafe, at Lake Tahoe, for the chance to do good and hear good.
Serena Ryder, the Canadian wonder who last year won our northern neighbor's equivalent of the Grammy as "Best New Artist" will be rocking the stage starting at 9:30pm. All proceeds will go directly to World Hungry Year and Christmas Cheer All Year campaigns. VIP seating and a post concert meet and greet is available for only $15.00.
Ryder's slight figure, and age, she's just 25. belie the intense power behind her three octave voice and the words with which she adds passion and luminosity to her lyrics.
After years playing, recording and gathering fans back home her debut CD "is it o.k" with Atlantic Records has been garnering praise from the rest of the world.
Inspired by fellow Canadian singers/activists Neil Young and Leonard Cohen she discovered young that her ability to merge the rhythms and poetry that flowed easily meant she could also help those experiencing similar emotions, but without the means to express them.
