Finally, Shoes with a Purpose...
In incredibly difficult financial times, people tend to detract from socially conscious business practices and focus on maximizing profits and cutting back costs. This is why when I walked by the Carmen Steffens store last week I was glad to see a sign indicating “donate your slightly used shoes and receive up to $100 on your purchase.”  The Carmen Steffans shoe store at the Sherman Oaks Fashion Square mall is donating your old slightly used shoes the LA women’s shelter in exchange for discounts on your purchase there. If you do not need new shoes, why not just donate the ones you don’t need. This is a great idea and I commend them for it. More businesses should be using their powers and marketing skils to raise awareness and assist their communities in any way they can.
Based in Brazil, Carmen Steffens has over 130 stores worldwide, featuring the hottest shoes, bags, belts and wallets. Check out their hip, handcrafted styles online or at their only U.S. store at L.A.'s Westfield Fashion Square in Sherman Oaks.
