Today we take a brief look at what we can only describe as a rather unusual product. We are no strangers to memory products, we’ve written about quite a few over the past months. We use USB thumb drives almost every day. USB thumb drives have become quite ubiquitous showing up in pens, pocket knives, key chains and other everyday devices but nothing could quite prepare us for these USB thumb drives.

Tyme Machines is a maker of licensed USB drives. They have just announced and started shipping their Series 1 sculpted 3D Star Wars character USB drives. Yes, you’ve read that correctly and your eyes don’t deceive you, you can now purchase a Darth Vader, Yoda, Bobba Fett or Storm Trooper USB thumb drive! Since these are dubbed Series 1 we can only assume there may be further Star Wars character drives coming out sometime in the future.

“We at Tyme Machines thrive on bringing beloved characters such as these to life in full 3D to fans across the world” said John McDaniel, Chief Marketing Officer at Tyme Machines. He was also quoted as saying: “We are working continuously to bring Star Wars fans more collectables they can use in their everyday lives".

These are 3” high and designed to be collectibles for the avid Star Wars fan. They range from 4GB to 16GB and they retail for $29.99 to $59.99.

We haven’t had a chance to try these drives nor benchmark them but if you’re a Star Wars fan, and/or want to make a statement with your USB thumb drive we think these would be a great way to go. We think it may be fun and yet a bit disconcerting to decapitate Yoda and insert his headless body into your computer’s USB slot. We can think of a lot of puns and overly clever statements to end this article but we will refrain. Have fun and may the memory be with you (oops, sorry, we can’t help ourselves).
