I sang the praises of joining a car club in an earlier column and I recently attended a great yearly car club event for Lotus owners in the Baltimore and Washington DC areas. The Lotus Club Picnic is hosted by a member with a beautiful estate, and he opens up his lawn for a concourse / show and display area. Owners also are invited to enjoy the pool, tennis courts, and enjoy a great barbeque lunch.
The best thing about this particular event is that it is open to anyone who loves cars and not just specifically lotus cars. Besides the many Lotus cars ranging from the hosts Elite to several Elises, Esprits and Elans, there were Ferraris, Porsches, Panteras, MG's and Jaguars.
It was a fun day for all who attended and everyone there seemed to enjoy catching up with old friends over great food, and wandering around the great number of fine automobiles assembled for all to behold. This is a great event that could easily happen in any part of the country so if you'd like to host a similiar event, get planning for next year. Here is a link to the Lotus Club Picnic Video.
