Lamborghini is not planning on letting Porsche runaway with the market on new super car front engined four door sedans with their upcoming Porsche Panamera. The new Lambo super sedan will be called the Estoque which is a sword used by bullfighters.
Rumor has it that the Estoque was going to be called the Urus, but apparently that is a German word for a large cow that has been extinct since the 15th century. This would not have been a great name for the largest car to be produced by the now Audi / German owned Lamborghini.
The Estoque resembles its Lamborghini relatives, especially the front end with its large air intakes. The oversized rear fender flares combined with the huge tires remind me of the DeTomaso Longchamp, a very muscular 1980’s sedan. The long hood is needed to provide room for the familiar Lamborghini V 10 which will be used to power the Estoque.
Like the Gallardo LP 560-4 it will offer all of the safety and speed associated with all-wheel drive. The car is being shown as a concept at the 2008 Paris Auto Show, but it will likely be released by 2010 to compete with the new crop of four door family fliers including the Porsche Panamera, Maserati Quattroporte, and the Aston Martin Rapide.
