There was very little change in the Arbitron PPM ratings for October. Once again WLTW-FM topped all other stations with a 7.1. It was a rise for Clear Channel’s Lite-FM, up from a 6.6 in the September survey.
WCBS-FM maintained its strong number two with a 5.9, down slightly, though, from a 6.0.
WAXQ (Q 104.3) also dipped to a 4.9 (from 5.2), but held onto third position.
WHTZ (Z100) moved up a peg to fourth place with a 4.6. Last month Z100 was tied for fifth with a 4.4.
WCBS-AM, the radio home of the Yankees, actually lost listeners in October, despite the World Series run. Newsradio 880 slipped from a 4.7 and fourth place to a 4.4 and fifth place. The .3 difference equated to a nearly 300,000 drop.
Elsewhere, WWFS (Fresh 102.7), which welcomed new morning team “Jim [Douglas] and Kim [Berk] on October 7, saw a .2 boost in its ratings to 3.0. It’s been a steady incline for Fresh, up from a 2.6 in August.
Also nice gains were seen for Emmis-owned WRKS (Kiss-FM). The Urban A/C formatted station pulled in a 3.6 (a .3 bounce from September). Rival WBLS, nearly matching Kiss listener to listener, had a 3.4 in October (up from 3.3).
Now FM (WXRK) continues its march up the list. WXRK, which CBS Radio flipped to a Contemporary Hit Radio format eight months ago, is 17th with a 2.5.
