Resisting Kane by Stephanie Adkins is a short read that had me on the edge of my seat. The book opens up to a ménage scene between the main character Madison and her two clients. Now that is a way to throw a reader into the story.
While she is indulging herself she also has a stalker, a disgruntled ex-employee who believes the problems in his life are her fault. In steps Terrence Kane a classmate from her past who is also a cop who helps to protect Madison .
This short read has it all: drama, sex, and plot to murder a woman who is a little free with the sex. I like Madison . She is a woman who loves sex, and who is not afraid to indulge even when her life is in danger. But she is also a complex person who has an emptiness inside her that she uses work to try to fill.
Kane on the other hand riles Madison up and when they first get intimate it is heat-filled, yet Madison finds it hard to forgive him of the past.
Overall the story is electric and the sex scenes are raw and leave nothing to the imagination as the author describes the act in loving detail. Yet when it is Madison and Kane, the sex scenes turn into a love making session.
Bottom line the book gets a 4. It is intriguing, suspenseful and all out hot. Madison is a take charge female, yet when it comes to Kane she becomes flustered and not so sure of herself. Don’t let this one pass you by!
