Book cover for Amber Allure

With reviewing erotica on this site since March of this year, I’ve been able to put into words the love I have of the genre.

But I’ve also noticed some genres that seem to excel more than others. One in particular is gay male erotica or homerotica. I personally have no problem with this genre and of course I am one of many of those who like this type of read.

But why is it such a hot commodity? I don’t know when I started to see this genre take off but most publishers seem to be on the bandwagon. But is this genre becoming over-saturated? And why isn’t gay female erotica as big as gay male erotica?

I have these questions because some of the new books that come out each week from the publishers, there is always at least one of these books for sale.

I am not disparaging this genre, as I stated earlier I do like it, but with so many of this particular genre being published, is it hurting itself? When is too much to much?

I’ve reviewed some of this genre here and as you can see it is contemporary, paranormal, suspenseful, etc. So far, what I was able to find while researching is one publisher dedicated to this genre with its own imprint called Amber Allure.

Is it only women who primarily write and read this genre?

I am curious to hear your thoughts on this and what you think about it. Thank you for reading.
